DeckPlanner.

Interactive 3D deck layouts with equipment placement, crane movement and hook-height feedback.

A demonstration layout brings the vessel, deck grid, equipment and articulated crane into one view.

About the work.

DeckPlanner combines a vessel model, a deck grid and an equipment catalogue in one interactive 3D scene. Users choose containers, tanks and other equipment, then place, rotate or remove them while exploring the layout from different viewpoints.

The crane follows cursor positions within its configured reach, with limits on the arm joints. A separate readout shows the hook's height above the deck grid. Together, these controls let users explore equipment arrangements and crane movement in the same scene.

What it can do.

Arrange deck equipment

Choose from seven equipment types and place them on the deck grid. Rotate or remove items to try a different arrangement.

  • Shipping and offshore containers, a reefer, an oxygen cage, a tank and a storage box
  • Grid-based placement and rotation
  • Checks for occupied cells and grid boundaries

Explore crane movement

Move the cursor across the deck to guide the articulated crane within its configured geometric reach and joint angles.

  • Cursor-directed crane movement
  • Configured reach and rotation limits
  • Hook-height readout in metres

Review the layout

Move around the vessel, change the grid cell size and switch between vertical grid levels to inspect different arrangements.

  • Camera movement, rotation and zoom
  • Adjustable grid spacing
  • Manual grid-height controls
