RoomCraft.

A browser-based room-building prototype for arranging furniture in isometric 3D spaces.

A furnished music room in the early template viewer, with a grand piano, fireplace and seating.

About the work.

RoomCraft explores how a compact room builder can make furniture layouts tangible. A choice of room sizes and a small object catalogue provide the starting point for arranging a space.

The editor combines grid-based placement with controls for moving, rotating and removing furniture. Furnished room templates explore different layouts and styles, while camera controls let users inspect a room from other angles.

What it can do.

Set up a room

Choose a room-size preset and select furniture and decorative objects from the catalogue.

  • Five room-size presets
  • A catalogue of seating, a table, a bed, a plant and a lamp
  • Furnished templates for browsing different room compositions

Arrange and inspect

Place objects on a grid, adjust their arrangement and change the camera view to inspect the space.

  • Object placement, movement, quarter-turn rotation and deletion
  • Occupied-cell and room-boundary checks during placement
  • Camera pan, rotation and zoom controls
